Chloe Turner’s first historical novel, Blue Hawk, was published by Deixis Press in July 2024 (available in hardback and paperback)

Blue Hawk is set in mid-17th century rural Gloucestershire, at the height of the Stroudwater woollen industry, and the novel tells the story of a weaver’s daughter with a fascination for colour, who defies deep-rooted custom and personal tragedy to create a role for herself in the dyeing business. The plot is inspired by a number of real-life stories and story fragments from the period, and touches on themes of sisterhood, friendship & betrayal, and displacement, set in a time of great social change.

Described by the Irish Independent as “Evocative and atmospheric, the language is stunning yet simple and the story is beautifully wrought.”

The novel received many positive reviews, a sample of which below – see many more here and here
