With the cover designer, Laura Pashby (@circleofpines)

Not sure where to start with the last month, to be honest, it’s been a bit of a whirlwind.

The launch of Witches Sail in Eggshells was wonderful for me, celebrating the launch of my debut collection with so many friends and family. Other than a rather wrinklier than anticipated cake, it couldn’t have been a more special night.

I was delighted that cover designed (and excellent friend) Laura Pashby was able to be there, along with Dave Borrowdale of the publisher, Reflex Press.  John Holland of Stroud Short Stories very kindly acted as master of ceremonies.

John also announced some news I’d been sitting on for a little while – he’s asked me to be the co-judge for the next Stroud Short Stories (for Gloucs and South Gloucs authors, submissions open mid-August), which will take place in November as part of Stroud Book Festival, and I’m so excited about the opportunity to read so many brilliant stories.

Since then, I’ve had some lovely feedback, and some hilarious pictures of Witches out ‘in the wild’.

I’m looking forward to reading from the collection at the ‘Fifth Wednesday’ event at The Dog House, Coleford on 31st July – do come along if you’re in the area.

IMG_1331.JPGI’ll also be taking part in a session with Welsh novelist Diana Powell at the Llangwm Literary Festival a little later in the summer (9th-11th August – our session on Friday 9th is called Tales of the Unexpected). Llangwm is a brilliant little lit fest that pitches well above its weight – I have loved it as an audience member for the last few years, and am thrilled to be taking an active role in it this year.

There’s novel news, too! I read from Blue Hawk, my historical novel work-in-progress, at Novel Nights in Bath the week before last. And I’m absolutely delighted to say I am now represented by the literary agent Angel Belsey, who works with the Emily Sweet Agency in London.

That’s all from me, you may be relieved to hear. I’m off to get stuck into rather a long list of edits! Thanks so much for reading.

Chloe x

Witches Sail in Eggshells is available from Reflex Press here, and from bookshops local to Stroud. If you do read it, I’d love it if you left a review on Goodreads here, it makes such a difference, thank you!
